Recode editor Ben Kuchera says Apple is making a TV app that’s ready to ship with support for web-based video.
“Web TV has long been a feature Apple has promised, and it has been an interesting process,” Kuchersaid in an interview with Recode’s Kara Swisher.
“The way it’s been integrated into the OS has been very seamless.
It’s been a lot of fun to be a part of this.”
Kucherasays Apple is planning to ship a Web TV app soon, and that app will support streaming to a web browser, allowing users to watch web content from a web-connected TV.
It’ll also let users stream music from their iCloud Music Library or an Apple Music app to their TV.
Apple is also preparing to ship an update to the tvOS beta program that will allow tvOS users to control the tv with their iPhones.
In addition to the streaming support, the update will add the ability to turn on and off features, and support for multiple devices.
“The future of tvOS is more than just a screen,” Kuchherasaid.
“It’s going to be much more than that.”
